Streaming services like Viki and Kocowa offer subtitled content for a low price. They have apps for Roku, mobile devices and smart TVs. Divorce Attorney Shin returns medical doctor Cha Jeong-suk to her career after leaving it twenty years earlier. Expect mystery diagnoses and lots of drama.
The Heirs
The Heirs is a 2013 drama about the privileged and elite children of conglomerate businesses. It features the typical rich-girl-poor boy love story. Unlike other Korean series where they try to look more realistic, The Heirs goes all out with the cliches. The heir of the Empire Group, Kim Tan, is sent to the United States in exile to escape his older half-brother’s schemes and ends up meeting the daughter of his family’s housekeeper, Cha Eun Sang.
Although it seems like a perfect match at first glance, they don’t really have the spark for a romance to grow. Both Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye are too old to play high school students, and their pairing lacks the invisible chemistry that makes a good K-drama tick.
Sunny Days
Sunny Days features a sweet, funny romance between a cafe worker and a wealthy older man. You’ll be rooting for these two lovebirds to get together despite their many hardships. It’s rare to find a ดูซีรี่ย์เกาหลี that focuses on a hospital’s psychiatric department, but Daily Dose of Sunshine delivers. A new case comes in every week for a positive-thinking nurse to tackle. IU continues to prove she can be more than just a cute feisty girl in her movies, and Hotel del Luna is no exception. She plays a woman who manages a peculiar hotel that’s home to ghosts.
The Queen
This sexy historic drama features character swapping, romance and lots of action. It’s a bit more progressive than other K-Dramas when it comes to the queen and king’s relationship. Shin Hye Sun plays modern day chef Jang Bong-hwan who wakes up in the body of Queen So yong. He quickly learns that he is involved in the palace’s secrets. It’s a little hard for him to adjust at first but he slowly starts falling in love with the king and his bodyguards. The king’s rival, the Grand Queen Dowager and even his eunuch are not too happy with him though. It is a funny yet sexy and romantic series.
My Love From Another Star
A famous Hallyu actress and a wealthy businessman collide in this drama that features a super-hot male lead with the kind of physique that would have landed him on a sexy mag cover. Gianna Jun and Kim Soo-hyun make a fine team as the conceited celebrity and the noble alien, respectively. Do Min Joon lands on Earth in 1609 during the Joseon Dynasty and misses his ship back home. He’s been stuck on the planet for 400 years, quietly adapting to each new era, with a near-perfect human appearance and enhanced physical abilities and with a cynical, jaded view of humanity. He never ages.
All Of Us Are Dead
In this teen apocalyptic drama, high school students barricade themselves in their music room when a zombie virus outbreak hits. They must fight to survive while battling the infected. The show draws on the power and cruelty of teenage relationships, from the petty cruelties and crushes to the deep bonds that form in a small group. Na-yeon, a wealthy student who’s used to getting her way, struggles to balance her privileged life with the needs of others. The series also makes it clear that body image is a key issue for Koreans. Fat jokes are common in the country where kids are told to eat more and parents complain about their weight.
The Bad Moms
It’s practically a kdrama law that when the hero and heroine are in love, the hero’s mother will do everything she can to keep them apart. But Queen Hwa-ryeong’s actions in this series go far beyond mere resentment. She’s a truly wicked person who treats her enemies with malice and pure ill will. The Bad Moms is an unapologetic drama that isn’t afraid to tackle complicated issues and characters. It also boasts some of the best performances of 2023. Lee Do-hyun’s chameleonic character and Ra Mi Ran’s ability to switch from being a cold prosecutor to being Kang Ho’s ray of sunshine is nothing short of amazing.
